we all know what is a passport and why the passport is required so I will not explain much. here I will explain what is the registration process and how to apply for a passport in simple terms

Step 1: Registration process for passport
  • open google.com and search passport Seva on google.
  • you can click here also https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink 
  • Click on the new user registration button when you are applying for the first time and you are new user
  • next step is fill detail asked in the window that is Select Nearest Passport office, your name, surname, date of birth, email id.
  • then the next question is do you want your login id to be the same as email id? I would like to prefer my email id as login id so I would like to click on the yes button. so it will be easier for you to remember your login id. 
  • next set your password and reenter your password again for confirm password (remember that password must contain one digit (0-9), one upper case (A-Z) or one lowercase (a-z) character, and password should be between 8 to 14 character.
  • now set hint question from the given option and set Answer of that question. remember it because it will help you to recover your password when you forgot it.
  • The next step is to enter captcha code as displayed in box and click on the register button
  • you can see your registration confirmation with the message that "thank you for registering on passport Seva portal. please click the link in the email  sent to your email id."
  • now go your Gmail and open email received. ( Note: if you are not able to find the email in the inbox than wait for few minutes or check email into your spam folder)
  • now open that email and click on the given link to activate your account. passport Seva portal will open now enter your login id and click on the Submit button.
  • now your account has been activated successfully.
so step 1 is only about the registration process for new users. now I will explain step 2 that is how to apply for a passport

Step 2: How to apply for a passport?
  • open passport Seva portal from google
  • click on existing user login because we have already created an account in step 1.
  • Enter your login id and click on the continue button and now insert your password and captcha code and click on Login Button.
  • now there are few options given and select the first option that is Apply for fresh passport/re-issue of passport
  • In the next step, you can see two option so you have to click on the first option that clicks here to fill the Application Online. (the second option is to download a copy of application form and upload it on the portal so it may be a time-consuming process).
  • choose an option as per your requirement. here I am choosing as per my requirement that is Apply for - fresh passport, Type of Application - Normal and Type of passport booklet - 36 pages and click on Next Button.
  • Now fill your Detail carefully and read it before click on the save button.
  • Click on the Next button and fill your family Detail and click on Next button
  • next step is to fill your Present residential Address ( Fill it carefully and prefer to fill is as per your id card). Click on Next Button
  • Enter your emergency contact detail. ( name, contact number and email id) it can be your parents or brother or any other person. Click on the Next button.
  • Now Fill the answer of question which is applicable to you and read the question carefully before answer.
  • in the next step you can see the first page of the passport as per detail fill by you. now click on the Next button.
  • now in self-declaration select your date of birth proof and residential address proof from the drop-down menu. ( most of the people prefer aadhar card here), click on yes if you want to get an update on SMS. (charges if 50 rs and it is optional)
  • now click on the save button and click on the preview application button and check detail filled by you .and click on the submit button if all detail is correct.
  • The next step is to choose your payment mode and click on next button
  • now in Schedule appointment you can see your name and date of birth. Click on the Next button and select the nearest passport office where the appointment is available and you can go and verify your document. and enter captcha code and click on  Next Button.
  • you can change the appointment date if you want. now click on Pay and book appointment option.
NOTE: After this procedure you have to go to the passport office on appointment date for verifying documents. keep the original document with you. The next step is police verification. if all is ok then your passport will be reach to your home by Post.
